J and I are no strangers to driving with kids in tow. We spent the month of November in the car driving from one end of the state to the other. However, the Saturday before Thanksgiving we decided that we should take a drive close to home. We decided to take the kids to El Santuario de Chimayo.
What better way to physically prepare ourselves for Advent, then to visit the Santuario and thank God for all of our blessings. Each new addition to our family reminds us how important it is to thank God for allowing us to raise his beautiful babies here on Earth. Walking into the Santuario is an amazing feeling, the artwork depicted is beautiful and the altar is an amazing sight.
Living close to the Santuario is such a blessing. If you have never heard of the holy dirt that comes from the Santuario you should Google it or better yet just click here to visit the website of the Santuario. Visiting the Santuario as a child was always a great experience and now that I have children I hope that they will remember mom and dad taking them to pray at such a holy place.
Attending mass each week is such a special tradition and it is even more amazing that we can see beautiful retablos and bultos each week from our pew.
